Spider bites, 200 likes, and 1 year blogging: summer week 2

Since the weather where I live has been so nice lately I decided to take some pictures outside; the photos turned out well, but A SPIRDER BIT ME! It wasn’t’ poisons, but I’m terrified of spiders, so I did freak out a bit(by a bit I mean I completely freaked out and spent over an hour researching spider bites on Google).

I seriously can’t believe it has already been a year since I started blogging. I remember the day I started my blog and it feels like I just started my blog. I’m still completely in love with blogging and plan on continuing to blog. I also hit 200 likes! Not much else happened this week, but I have a lot going on next week, so it was nice to have some time to relax.

I hope your having a great summer!

DIY Sea Salt Spray

fullsizeoutput_55fIt’s summer! Every summer when I was a kid my grandma would take me and my cousin  to the beach, some of my favorite memories with her are at the beach. Sea salt spray is a must-have for me during summer; it gives my hair beach waves and the smell always brings back great memories for me. Sea salt spray isn’t expensive, but it is cheaper to make and by making it you can customize it to suit you. I love beach waves and plan on having them most of this summer. fullsizeoutput_555fullsizeoutput_557What you’ll need:

  1. 1/2 cup warm water
  2. 1 1/2 tab Epsom salt
  3. 1/4 tea of conditioner or coconut oil
  4. (Optional) a few drops of essential oil, a pinch of sea salt, or a few drops of almond oil
  5. Small spray bottle

Instructions: Mix everything together and pour into spray bottle.

To use start with dampening your hair, then shake the bottle to make sure everything is mixed. Divide your hair and spray each section. Then scrunch your hair and your done!!

Cakes, Family, and Driving: Summer Week 1

I’m 18 and want to move out soon so I am learning to drive, I’m completely terrified. As a kid my siblings and I used to race these electric toy cars and when they went to fast they would fly off the track and when I was younger it was hilarious, now the thought of that actually happening completely scares me. I have been driving a few times before, but nothing consistent, now it’s time to learn. My mum took me to a parking lot and I started driving. I didn’t go above 20mph, but it’s still extremely exciting to me! I also managed to park between the lines on my first try!

If you read a lot of my post you will know my brother is in town and I’ve been forcing him to try new products that I review. I love getting to see family, two of my siblings live in a different state and my other sibling is just a few hours away in another town. Since we all live far apart it’s always nice to see them.

One day I became extremely bored and decided to bake. Usually their’s someone home, but with my dad at work and my mum out of town I had the house to myself and went a tad over bored. I made macarons, small cakes, and cake pops. The only problem is I don’t partially like sugary things(I know I’m crazy), so my family is trying to make their way through lots of sweets. Everyone in my family except my dad doesn’t eat gluten, so a lot of recipes don’t turn out very well, but after some trial and error they usually get their, If you want me to post some recipes please leave a comment below because I love to bake and am always looking for an excuse to.

I also moved! I’m still in the same town, but I just moved from an apartment to a house. I honestly miss the apartment. Don’t get me wrong their are definite perks to a house; neighbors don’t wake you up as often, I don’t have to walk my dogs as often because we now have a backyard, but their are lots of things I do miss. Two major things I miss are definitely the pool and the gym, especially since its summer. I got extremely lucky to have those things and where I’m living seems like a nice neighborhood. I still have a lot to unpack, I’m defiantly procrastinating. I did get to paint my bedroom, which is something I haven’t been allowed to do since I was 14!

I’m enjoying the summer weather and got a slight tan though I’m still the palest one in my family by a long shot. I usually just burn no matter how much sunscreen I put on; won’t stop me from laying by the pool though, just won’t be their more than an hour unless I want to look like a tomatoe for a week.pool side

Hope your having a great summer<3

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strip Review

fullsizeoutput_53dfullsizeoutput_541I’ve only used two other pore strips before this, but I’m trying to take really good care of my skin and decided to try these out. The strips are easy to use and since they only stick when their’s water it makes for an easy application.

Before:fullsizeoutput_514After:fullsizeoutput_51afullsizeoutput_51dfullsizeoutput_51ffullsizeoutput_520.jpegMy brother is in town for awhile, so I’m making him my test dummy for a while. He’s a great brother to actually let me test these on him and the results were pretty good. my brother had a few pimples on his nose, those were popped before I placed the strip on his nose for better application. The instructions were easy to follow, but it didn’t pull as much out as other strips. His nose is a little red in the after picture, because I took it right after he used the strip, but the redness went away after a little while. Their is definitely a difference in his skin and in all fairness he doesn’t take incredible care of his skin, so over time using these their would be a bigger improvement.

fullsizeoutput_539fullsizeoutput_53bfullsizeoutput_533fullsizeoutput_537I also tried the strips after my brother, but not much came out of my nose. I was actually quite pleased by this, as I’ve been working so hard on my skin these past few weeks. I did notice a slight difference, my pores looked smaller and it also took off some dead skin. I have extremely sensitive skin and the strips didn’t cause any irritation, so that is a huge win for me.

I would rate this a 7/10 it’s a good product and if I could change one thing I would make it slightly bigger, so it went on my cheeks as well as my nose. Also it didn’t seem to get the blackheads on the side of the nose very well. They were almost their, but I won’t be purchasing them again. I still like this company and will be trying some of their other pore strips. These particular strips aren’t for me, but if you only a few blackheads, it will probably work really well for you.

My Summer Essentials

fullsizeoutput_4ebSummer has always been one of my favorite seasons. The warmth, getting to see friends, and I tend to travel more during the summer. I’ve traveled almost every summer since I was five and always loved it! I have so many great memories from summer and hopefully I’ll make some more this year. This is also my first summer as an adult(if I can be considered an adult). Is 18 an adult? I feel like at 18 you’re in-between being a teenager and an adult, but that’s not what this post is about, sorry I tend to ramble. Here are a few things I will be using constantly throughout this summer!

fullsizeoutput_4d8.jpegSwimsuits- I love spending my summer by the pool, so swimsuits are an obvious must

fullsizeoutput_4ecPolaroid Camera- I’m planning on taking lots of cute shots this summer!

fullsizeoutput_4e2IMG_5630fullsizeoutput_4e4CC or BB cream, E.L.F. concealer, and Too Faced Funfetti blush- These are great for creating a natural summer look

fullsizeoutput_4e0Sea-salt spray and Hair rings- Beach waves and braids are two of my favorite summer hairstyles and these just help achieve the perfect look

fullsizeoutput_4eefullsizeoutput_4dfsummer essentialsShorts, Flip flops, and Foot jewelry- I only recently started wearing four jewelry and now I’m obsessed with it. It’s the perfect accessory to complete my summer look. During the summer I practically live in shorts and flip flops are my go-to for when I’m heading to the pool.

fullsizeoutput_4e5fullsizeoutput_4e6Sunglasses- I have really sensitive eyes and without sunglasses I will spend the day squinting. I also just love sunglasses and probably have way to many pairs

fullsizeoutput_505Sunscreen and Sunhat’s- I burn extremely easily, so I try to be really careful, and make sure I have sun protection. Tanning doesn’t work for me, instead of getting a sun-kiss glow, I end up looking like a tomato threw up on me. Weather you burn easily or not sunscreen is a good idea.

I hope you liked this post and have a great summer<3

My Nighttime Skincare Routine

fullsizeoutput_4d4I’ve been dealing with cystic acne for about a year and normal mild acne since I was eleven. I’m not entirely sure why my acne got worse so late, I was almost 17 when it got really bad. Even though I started getting spots when I was eleven, I didn’t start washing my face until I was 13 and I stopped when I was fourteen for about a year a half. When my acne started getting worse I started washing my face, but it just continued to get worse. I stated trying different products, though unfortunately nothing worked. A few months ago I decided to start really trying to get rid of my acne. I was always trying to hide my face with my hair and didn’t want my picture taken. Since I have lots of allergies I have to do a lot of research on every product I try and I decided to try a more natural route so I would know what was going into the products I’m putting on my skin.  fullsizeoutput_4cbfullsizeoutput_4cfI don’t wear makeup everyday, but when I do I use two cotton balls and Micellar water to remove my makeup. fullsizeoutput_4d2fullsizeoutput_4d3If I’m not wearing makeup I start my routine by pulling my hair up and washing my face. I’ve been using clean and clear for three years. I’m currently looking for a more everyday face wash that works well for me, but this is what I’m using right now. It leaves my skin feeling clean and I like the smell.fullsizeoutput_4d5I make my own eye cream, it’s just to reduce dark circles and puffiness. I have the recipe herefullsizeoutput_4d0After I wash my face I use rose water as a toner. It’s refreshing and now is one of my favorite steps in my skincare routine. At first I didn’t get the point of using a toner, but I starting noticing a difference in my skin, so I researched why it’s good to use a toner. It is now an essential part of my skin care routine. fullsizeoutput_4ceI read that coconut oil is a great moisturizer, but with some people it clogged their pores, causing more acne. I decided to try it and was really surprised and happy when I noticed improvement(I didn’t really expect it to work).

My skin has been improving and I’m really happy with the way it looks right now. If you have any good face wash recommendations please leave them in the comments as I have been trying to find one for awhile now. All the products in this post are gluten and dairy free, allergies can be very annoying, but its usually easy to find alternatives that work for you.

Elf Product Review

fullsizeoutput_485fullsizeoutput_491I have tried a few e.l.f. products before, but I was at the drugstore and decided to test a few more out. E.l.f. has great prices, so if their products end up working well that would be a huge win. I did a review of one of their eyeshadow pallets here.fullsizeoutput_482fullsizeoutput_492fullsizeoutput_484Illuminating Palette: For the price this product isn’t bad, but it isn’t something I would reach for on daily basis. The highlight isn’t bad, but the palette doesn’t have great pigmentation. It looked nice, you just have to use more than you think to get it to show up well. fullsizeoutput_490Everyday Lash Collection: I didn’t like these falsies. I won’t pretend to be great at applying false lashes, but I could not get these to stay. No matter how much glue I put on it was not going to stay. I like the look of the lashes, just use a different eye lash glue. The pack came with two different eyelashes, but I only got the ones in the picture to work. They also come with a pair of tweezers to help you apply the lashes. fullsizeoutput_47dMolten Liquid eyeshadow: The color is actually really nice. I’m thinking about getting the gold one as well because I think it will be perfect for Christmas and winter in general. It blends really easily and keeps its color. I don’t use glittery eyeshadow often because I end up with it all over my face by the end of the day, but this stays in place while still giving you a little sparkle. I was worried that the eyeshadow wouldn’t blend well, but I had no problems. It blended easily and was buildable, probably my favorite product from this haul!fullsizeoutput_47cConcealer: I got this in ivory and was worried about the shade when I opened it. I almost didn’t try it because it looked to dark for my skin tone, but once I blended it, the color matched my skin really well. I’ve never used a concealer like this one before and I was pleasantly surprised. It has a creamy texture and blends easily. It hides blemishes well and it does help with dark circles though I like to using something lighter to brighten up under my eyes. I think I’ll be using this more often to cover up my blemishes. I’ll especially be using this during the summer as it looks really natural.fullsizeoutput_47aConcealer on left and liquid eyeshadow on the right

Easy DIY T-Shirts Perfect for Summer

fullsizeoutput_44dfullsizeoutput_44efullsizeoutput_458fullsizeoutput_457Summer is almost here! Here are a few DIY shirts to start off my summer posts!fullsizeoutput_12c

I have had this shirt for over a year and never wear it because it doesn’t lay right on me, so I decided to turn it into a crop top. The first step is deciding how long you want your shirt. Once you’ve decided on the length draw a line in pencil across the shirt, so you know where to cut(if you want to hym it leave an extra half inch).

fullsizeoutput_345fullsizeoutput_346

After you cut the shirt pull the bottom of the shirt to make the edges roll in and your done! A crop top perfect for summer.

fullsizeoutput_347IMG_2129

fullsizeoutput_12e

My friend visited last summer and we tie-dyed a ton of shirts. Having them all the same became old really quickly so I grabbed a pair of scissors and made a few adjustments. The first step is to cut off the bottom piece of the shirt, so it looks nicer at the end. Just like the other shirt measure how short you want it to be and draw a line in pencil. Once you know how long you want it lay in flat on the floor and start cutting strips from the bottom of the shirt to your line.

fullsizeoutput_1a2After you cut all the strips pull on them to give the shirt a nice look and your finished! The one tip I would give is if you have bigger boobs don’t cut the strips as high so it lays nicely.fullsizeoutput_1a3fullsizeoutput_49dfullsizeoutput_49f

fullsizeoutput_452To start lay your top flat and cut off the sleeves, collar, and the bottom line. Then cut to the length you want except for two triangles in the middle that will be used to tie the shirt. fullsizeoutput_451Tie the bottom and your finished! you now have the perfect top for summer. This one is probably my favorite, it turned out so cute, and I’ve never tired this style before so I was really pleased.fullsizeoutput_44fScreen Shot 2017-05-30 at 4.14.47 PM
