getting back to the things that make me happy

Life has been hectic recently, so all of my attention has been on getting things done. Things are starting to calm down now, so I’m trying to start doing things I love again. I started with working out and I’m crazy sore, but it’s nice to be working out again. Exercise for me is a stress reliever. It helps me sleep and have energy.

I’ve also been trying to write again. I actually stopped writing before things started getting hectic. I’ve always written for myself before I ever started writing on my blog. I felt like I couldn’t even write in my journal anymore. I never had writers block that bad before. I felt like I had lost something important to me and didn’t know how to get it back. Over time my writers block has gone away and I think being in a new place has helped.

I missed a few years of my life due to my health. I know how lucky I am to be able to live it now and I want to spend it doing everything I possibly can. Even in the little moments I want to enjoy my life. Dancing around the kitchen, random handstands, writing, singing badly at the top of my lungs in the car. Most importantly spending time with people I care about, because they make life amazing.

5 Things to do to reduce stress

  1. Yoga- I have been doing yoga everyday for about a month now. I tried doing it at other times a day, but I found that for me doing it in the morning was best. I do it for about twenty minutes or 5 if I have a particularly busy morning. It helped with my stress levels and also helps me wake up in the morning so I’m more productive through the day.
  2. Workout- Exercising helps with a number of things including stress. Even working out for five or ten minutes can make a huge difference in your day.
  3. Treat yourself- Taking a day or a few hours to do things like do a face mask, read a book in the tub, or chill out on the couch and watch a movie is a great idea. Most the of the time we’re running around trying to get things done and we forget to take time to relax.
  4. Breath- This one may seem obvious, but taking a deep breath at a moment when you feel extra stressed can be one of the most helpful things.
  5. Make time to do things you enjoy- Finding time to do things can be really difficult. Often times we get caught up in work or just daily task that we don’t leave room to enjoy. I know it can be difficult, but try making time in your day to do things you enjoy, even if it’s something small.

Of course what helps one person reduce stress may not work for everyone, but here are a few things that help me. Since school started back recently and stress levels are high I thought that it would be a good time for this post. Hope this helps:)
